Writer In Residence - Melody Richardson
The Muskoka Writing Circle is evolving, as every good group should. Due to the size of the group (14 members & growing), and to keep the group interesting despite cramped quarters, we'll now focus on reading & positive critiquing of members' work in progress. Our invitation to new members still stands. If you write poetry, prose, fiction or non-fiction including memoirs, join us the third Saturday of the month at 9am. Expect to be inspired. Want more information? Contact Melody at 788-3143 after 6 pm.
Are you still interested in sharing your memoirs? Join the Sharing Memories group at the library on the 1st Saturday of the month at 9am.
Meeting Schedule
The next meetings are:
Muskoka Writing Circle ~ January16th, February 20th and March 20th.
Sharing Memories ~ January 9th , February 6th and March 6th.
Yesterday: Anthology of Memoirs
The Memoirs' Group at Bracebridge Public Library has given birth - collectively!
Our new book, Yesterday: Anthology of Memoirs, has arrived safe & sound. All parents are positively proud of our offspring. The anthology contains excerpts from 13 memoirists. It's a read you won't want to miss. We have stories about a tea plantation in India, life on a corvette in the Atlantic, survival in the Polish resistance, logging in Muskoka, teaching in Africa, childhood, love, loss & much more.
The cost is $21 (including GST) & is published under my own imprint, Panda Publishing.
Yesterday: Anthology of Memoirs can be purchased from anyone involved in the project: Carl Bedal, Maria Duncalf-Barber, Catherine Elliott, Liane Good, Sandra Hansen, Barb Hammell, Bruce Liddle, Thelma Marrin, Wilma Petch, Marie Rempel, Maurice Rose'Meyer, George Sikorski, Cindy Watson or me. (melodyr@vianet.ca) It's been an honour to listen to these authors share their work in our monthly writers' circle at the library. That's a priviledge I couldn't keep to myself. I guarantee you will remember their stories.
Other Meetings
Library Board meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Robert J. Boyer Reading Room. These meetings are open to the public.
