Library membership is free to all residents of Muskoka, including seasonal residents who own property in Muskoka and can provide proof of residence. A Non-resident membership is avilable at a rate to be
determined by the Library board. A Non-resident is defined as anyone who does not own property, or, permanently reside in Bracebridge.
The loan period for most library materials is three weeks. Videos and high demand items such as
best sellers may be borrowed for one week. Renewals can be done in person or over the telephone but will be denied if a reserve has been placed on the item by another library member.
Fines for overdue materials are 25 cents per item per day for adult material, to a maximum of $10.00 per item, and 15 cents per day per item for children’s material, to a maximum of $8.00 per item.
Public Internet Access User Agreement
Everyone who wishes to use the Internet at the library must agree to abide by the acceptable use policy endorsed by the Library Board:
As a user of the Internet at the Bracebridge Public Library I understand that I am expected to behave in a responsible manner consistent with the educational and informational purposes for which the Internet is provided. I understand that in the case of children, use of the Internet in the library is the responsibility of a parent or guardian.
I agree
to use the Internet for educational, informational and recreational purposes and not for unauthorized, illegal or unethical purposes;
that I will not attempt to modify or gain access to files, passwords or data belonging to others, or to install or attempt to install viruses or other programs designed to damage or alter software on the workstations, LAN or the Internet, or to seek unauthorized access to any computer system;
that I will not use the Internet to access, display, download, upload, print, forward or email material with pornographic (as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada Section 163), criminal or hate literature content;
that I will not use email to send unsolicited commercial material, spamming or mail bombs;
that I will respect the privacy and rights of others using public access workstations by not interfering with their use and by adhering to the time limits placed on workstation use;
to make only authorized copies of copyrighted or licensed software or data;
that library staff have the right to enforce time limits on workstation use in order to ensure fair access to all users.
